Engineering Insider

Last updated 1 year ago

Engineering Insider is a one-hour meeting where we cover 'hot' topics from our Engineering and Product development departments, from technical to people related ones.

It is an interactive online session where participants can ask any question and immediately get an answer. We organize it on a quarterly basis and it is completely driven by engineers.

When you join the session, here are examples of news you can find out:

  • Product vision

  • Technical plans and improvements

  • News in other departments

  • Changes in Engineering (i.e. technical, leadership, way of work...)

  • Meeting other teams in the company

  • Learning and Development for Engineering

  • More about specific Engineering practices in the company

Inspired By A Wish To Be More Transparent

In 2020 we launched the which measured different categories of our culture. One of the categories was transparency and the overall result was that 66% of people agree that we have a transparent culture.

Not bad, but we wanted to be even more transparent in engineering. Following the result of the survey, we organized a group with engineers from different teams and locations to suggest improvements in the level of transparency in Engineering department.

One of many things the Transparency Focus Group suggested was a virtual open space for all engineers with top management, other departments, and the A-team that would increase transparency and improve communication. The majority of Engineering voted in favor of the idea and we agreed to go further with this initiative. This is when and why the Engineering Insider was born.

From 2020 to 2021 we improved transparency by 6%, and Engineering Insider was one of several factors influencing that change.

Since the introduction in 2021, we've organized more than 10 Engineering Insiders and we continue to tackle current questions and demystify interesting topics on a quarterly basis.
